Lao Chai is a Black Hmong village roughly 7km southeast of Sapa town, in Muong Hoa Valley, reached by a moderate half-day trek down from Sapa or as part of a longer Lao Chai–Ta Van loop. It’s known for terraced rice fields, handwoven indigo textiles, and some of the most established homestays in the valley.
